Irvington Board of Education 2025-26 Trustee Candidates
For the 2025-26 school year, the Irvington Board of Education has two vacant three-year terms. Registered voters of the Irvington UFSD community will be asked to vote for two candidates. Below are the two community members who are running for election. Voters will also have the opportunity to write in candidates.
Steven Balet
Steven Balet and his wife, Mindy Borisoff, moved to Irvington in 2017. They are the proud parents of Sam (Irvington - third grade). Steven is a Partner at FGS Global, where he regularly assists public companies facing conflict with their shareholders on matters ranging from governance concerns to proxy fights for Board seats. Steven has been active in the community, serving on his HOA’s Board as President and volunteering with the PTSA (3 years running two annual fundraisers). In the past, Steven helped run a Jewish Community Center Camp for 2 years in Windsor, CT, and volunteered his time training staff for 6 years at the Hartford YWCA camp while working as a lawyer in NYC. Steven attended public school in East Hartford, Connecticut, has a J.D. from SUNY Buffalo School of Law, and a B.A. in Economics from SUNY Albany.
Andrea Flynn
Andrea Flynn is finishing her first term as a trustee in the Irvington Union Free School District. She has 20 years of experience in policy analysis, higher education, and nonprofit management. Andrea teaches courses on health, public policy, and economic inequality at the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University, where she received her MPA and MPH degrees. She frequently writes and speaks about her work and has been published in media outlets such as The Washington Post, The Atlantic, and Ms. Magazine. She has three children who attend Irvington public schools.
